It could be the prospect of the many amenities at your fingertips or getting away from those recurring home maintenance tasks. How do you maximize a small condo space?

While a house may appear to have unlimited options when it comes to space, creativity is the driving force when it comes to condos. Working with what you have may sound restricting, but it’s actually a fun approach. It allows you to reimagine your condo’s living space and let loose with various design possibilities.  Follow these tips to maximize your condo space.

1. Paint the walls white

White gives the room a brighter base, allowing the furniture and other details to be more noticeable. This is best utilized in spaces where the furniture is of a darker shade. Make your pieces stand out with a lighter wall color contrast.

2. Separate into areas

Remember, you are dealing with a layout that’s small in size. This doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice any part of it. Section off parts of the room according to your needs, and define the purpose of each part. Furnish one section as your living area, another as a dining part of the room, and perhaps even a spot by the window you can use as a home office.

3. Make use of mirrors

The more reflective surfaces you have in your condo, the larger the space will look. It’s precisely why interior designers advise putting mirrors in strategically placed spots in the home. The condo will instantly get a sense of openness, and feel more inviting.

4. Use full-size furniture

It may seem contradictory, but small pieces of furniture make a room look smaller than it actually is. Homeowners usually make the mistake of putting in lots of smaller pieces of furniture and end up cluttering up the space.

5. Hide your stuff

Making your closets and cabinetry from floor to ceiling will give off a sleek vibe to the space. It’ll provide a sense of seamless flow to the place, allowing for plenty of storage space not visible to the eye. It’ll give you lots of room to store cooking supplies, various appliances, and other accessories.

6. Display your artwork

Hang your valuable art pieces high on the walls to give off an illusion of high ceilings. It’s also another reason to show off your art collection and sense of style.
