It’s no secret that finding the right real estate agent can be a daunting task. With so many agents out there, how do you know which one to choose? And more importantly, how do you avoid making a mistake that could cost you time and money?

In this article, we’ll discuss some red flags to watch out for when hiring a real estate agent, whether you’re looking for a condo for sale in Coral Tree Plaza or another neighborhood in another area. Keep these eight tips in mind, and you’ll be on your way to finding the perfect agent for your needs!

What are the warning signs of a bad real estate agent?

No matter if it’s buying or selling a property, many people turn to a real estate agent for help. While most agents are honest and hard-working, there are a few bad apples out there who may try to take advantage of you. So, how do you know if you’re not dealing with a reputable agent? Read on!

1. Your agent doesn’t return phone calls or emails quickly

A good real estate agent will keep you updated about showings and handle negotiations just as quickly as you expected. However, if they aren’t responding promptly and efficiently to requests, they may not be as experienced as promised.

2. Your agent seems distracted during showings

During a showing of your home, you should feel like the most important person in the world – at least according to your real estate agent. Pay attention if your agent is constantly checking their messages and do not seem very engaged with potential buyers of your property. You could consider that a sign that this particular agent is unprofessional and doesn’t prioritize their current clients enough to deliver on their promises.

3. The only offers you receive are low-ball offers

A bad real estate agent might submit your offer close to the asking price – but never aggressively enough to stand out in a competitive housing market. Even if you do get multiple offers on your home, they will likely all be below the asking price if the agent is inexperienced or unable to negotiate effectively with potential buyers of your home.

4. The agent urges you to sign the contract quickly

If you’re looking for an experienced condo specialist to help you during your purchase, make sure you are not signing any contracts without meeting (and getting to know) the agent first.

Any reputable real estate professional will understand how important it is for you to learn as much as possible about what they can offer and how they can help you buy your new condo.

5. They only want to show you a completely finished unit

When you go to open houses or listings, make sure you check out both finished and unfinished units if this is what you want to buy. Some real estate agents may only show you completed condos that don’t allow for much customization when it comes time for your purchase. This can be a big red flag because many buyers want to remodel the unit before moving in completely.

6. The agent wants to pressure you into making an offer

If a real estate agent pressures you into making an offer on a condo or even buying straight away, this should be a sign of a bad agent since they are not considering your best interests in the long term.

7. They’re reluctant to share valuable information with you

Any reputable real estate agent will be happy to provide you with a copy of the condo declaration or bylaws, as well as answer any questions you may have about these documents. If an agent is not willing to share these documents with you, it could be because they don’t want you to find out key information that does not bode well for your purchase.

8. The agent doesn’t ask you questions

A good real estate agent should ask you questions about what you are looking for in a condo, where you work and play, if you have pets or children, etc. This way, they can help point out models that will fit your lifestyle and needs better than others on the market.
